Whatever happened to making an appointment?

What happened to appointments? 

Imagine my surprise when I glanced out the kitchen window and saw a young couple walking down out driveway toward the back yard gate.

I heard him call to her "it is locked!"

Wonder what they would have done if it was open?!

They headed back toward their car which was parked across our driveway.

This is the 5th time since our house has been on the market that folks have tried to just come on in!

Two of those were agents!  No call , no appointment, these two just showed up!  

One of them brought her client down the drive to the gate.  She then argued with Ralph about having an appointment.

We would have let her show except her client asked about the size of the house.  When he answered, the client looked at the agent and said "I told you I needed four bedrooms..."

On our recent anniversary we had just gotten back from our leisure dinner when the doorbell rang.

There was a young man on the porch who explained that his Aunt and Uncle were in the car from out of town.  They were looking to buy a house, could they just come through quickly?

Ralph asked for ten minutes so we could put our clothes back on....

The people were lovely but we have not heard anything else from them.  What a surprise!

Having our home on the market has enforced the basic rules of showing.  It continues to remind us why the rules should be followed!

One of the most basic of rules is that people should have an appointment before the property should be shown!  It is for safety and it is a basic courtesy!

Gives us a vivid perspective and tremendous empathy for our clients.
