When Enough Is Enough?

In the discussion following my blogRedistribution...How Sweet It Is I asked Mitchell Hall “what does Obama have to do so that you say "Basta"?

He answered “How about NYC being attacked during his Presidency.” And while he was referring to September 11” happening on Bush’s watch, we know that preparations for it started at time when Clinton was in office. By the way, Clinton knew about the training camps in Afghanistan, but paid little attention to a  small bump on the road (in today’s terms) in foreign policy. It was shadowed by close to his heart and penis Monica…

Still Mitchell’s answer is very symptomatic.

Yes, Iran has not used the nukes (yet), and maybe will not use them. Is it premature to worry? Do you side with Obama telling to Israel that they have to wait? Or he is saying it because he did not finish his round of meeting with celebrities?

When are we going to learn that the World has shrunk and now if one country is coughing, the other gets a full blown influenza? So the attitude “Let them cough, it does not affect us” is simply childish.

When will we learn from the history that WWII wouldn’t have started September 1, 1938 with Nazi attacking Poland, if a few months before that Chamberlain and Daladier had not signed the Munich Agreement in an attempt to appease Hitler. And then in August 1938 there were no Molotov – Ribbentrop Pact. But they all signed, and it cleared the way for the troops to start marching…

What is heralded today as foreign policy victory is appeasement, and it will neither make us safer, not better.

If the only signal we understand is Pearl Harbor, or falling towers of World Trade Center, then there may be more Pear Harbors and Towers in the future

I thought we have the strongest military in the world. I guess our President needs to start apologizing for that. Maybe make our military weaker. What if our enemies may like it…

Endless possibilities

Jon, The editorial in today's Wall Street Journal begins with a quote from George Orwell: "To see what is in front of one's nose needs a constant struggle."  If you'd like to read the entire editorial I'll pdf it and e-mail it to you.  Just let me know.

Ted - and he thought that it was the best thing he had done for hte nation. Interestingly, the nation wanted the lie as Lord Chamberlain wanted, and praised him. It was a bit later, when it turned out so shameful. And I take my hat to Churchill, who was not fooled by the theater, and said that it was a shame, and it would bring the war (I do not remember the quote, so this is pretty much the meaning, but not how he said it)

I think for many Americans it won't register in their tiny, closed minds, until they have to worry every day about making it home alive, or worried a school bus full of children will be blown to bits. Even then, probably 30% of our population would volunteer to convert to Islam in order to appease Muslims.

I don't sound too optimistic do I? :>)

Jon - isn't it so that we need a jolt to start thinking like normal people, start seeing things the way they are? The problem that it does not last long. We had September 11, and thought tht it united the nation... and we were wrong.

As if it never happened

Jon,

The problem is we have not learned from history.

If we had learned from Pear Harbor and applied it to 9-11 we'd not still be at war.

If we'd learn from history we understand "Peace" is never negotiated, "peace" is a gift from a benevolent Victor. Look at WW II Germany, Italy and Japan are among our closest friends. Look at Korea we're still at war just fewer battles.

There are casualties in war and the Islamist understand this and don't care how many are killed. (Of course, no one is innocent in their minds. All are to converted, enslaved or killed.)

Can you imagine what WWII would have been like if we hadn't carpet bombed Germany? That killed the German spirit and helped end the war. But the public, stupidly fed by the MSM, thinks wars can be 'clean and tidy', no innocents killed, because of what they see in movies and on TV.

Appeasement will never work. The bully or bad actor just asks for more the next time.

The first day of world history class in college my prof said, "This year we will learn in history that we learn nothing from history."  Pretty true.

Jon -- at least today, Secretary of State Clinton admitted that the 9/11/2012 attack on our consulate in Libya was done by associates of El Queda in N Africa.  Hmmm - could the rest of the unrest be because we did not sufficiently respond to that attack on such an important date?

Jon, the problem is not many people study history and that causes history to repeat itself!

Israel should handle their own affairs without getting us involved.

Also, before you go speading fear mongering about Iran's nuclear program, let it be known that the only country that ever used a nuclear bomb was our own country. Who are we to dictate to other nations about their nuclear ambitions?

Really - when the official and public government policy of Iran is the extinction of Israel ? I don't think another holocaust is just a foreign policy debate.

Israel is surrounded by enemies who have sworn to end their existance.  No Arab nation faces such a threat from Israel.

But the problem is this - an Israeli attack on Iran, no matter how justified by self defense and even if successful, will bring further war to the region.  Outside powers like the US, Russia and China have to solve this problem without an offensive act by Israel.  That will take leadership from the US President.

Bush 41 put together a remarkable coalition of Arab states and others to remove Iraq from Kuwait.  But we had to stop Israel from responding when Iraq fired missils into Israel because the Arab members of the coalition would not accept an Israeli attack on an Arab state.
