They want students to think and problem solve rather than gear their knowledge to a standardized test. These district as alway looking for ways to challenge the mind. Providing electives outside the standards curriculum, provide art programs early in a students school career and encourage writing skills like those developed by a school newspaper. There is a price to be paid by the homeowners in higher taxes to have these kinds of critical programs. I believe the dollars come back by increased real estate value in these districts.
