Feng Shui This | Halloween Ain't What it Used to Be

First off, let me clarify.  I love seeing the little ones wearing their costumes and interacting with neighbors. It's fun for them and fun for me.  They get to pretend they're something different, scary, royal, or even funny.  It's loads of fun.

What I don't appreciate are those who show up at my door and happen to be taller than I am.  I'm 5'5" tall and I had trick-or-treaters taller than me.  As I handed them small amounts of candy, I wondered if I refused, would they get even?

I've had it with this sort of behavior.  This year our mayor will be getting a letter from me, identifying this problem and asking for help solving it.  Every year I feel like I'm in a shakedown for candy.  Of course, that's what trick-or-treating is all about, but in reality, young children just want to get candy and have someone ooohhh and ahhh at their costumes.

I hope something can be done, but I wonder why it's been allowed so long.  Are the leaders of the community afraid of someone getting even with them?  Makes me wonder.  At any rate, I'll stop participating if I have to hand out candy to overgrown, greedy thugs.

Happy Halloween everyone.  And, be safe.

maybe some of the kids are big for their age?  It's all in fun ...once you run out of candy you can just turn the lights off and leave a note that all the candy is gone for anyone taller than 5ft 5 too!!  Must be under this height to get candy lol

Monica, I couldn't agree with you anymore!   Last year I remember kids coming to my door that went to school with our daughter (and she was a sophomore in college then).  I guess the kids (no matter what age) still love the idea of free candy.
