Sharing our Murphy NC Thanksgiving Traditions and what are yours

With Thanksgiving just around the corner and making our grocery shopping list; it got us thinking about the “traditional” things we do in our family.

Our Thanksgiving Hall Dishes

For our Thanksgiving celebrations I always display the Hall Autumn Leaf dishes from my paternal grandparents and it gets displayed on the old kitchen table from their home in Miami, Florida.  Without this treasured tradition, it’d be like not having pumpkin pie on Thanksgiving if we didn’t have the Autumn Leaves out.

How can some old dishes bring back so many memories each year... tell us what some of your “traditions” are during this thankful season?

Autumn Leaf was one of the most popular and long-lasting patterns produced by Hall China, manufactured from 1933 until 1976.

Before saying grace, everyone gives a short reply to what they are grateful for.  I especially like to hear from the children.

What a delightful tradition Carol. And those dishes are so pretty and 'festive'! We don't have a tradition quite like yours, ours is based more on the food. The recipes I use for stuffing date back to my Grandmother on my Dad's side. The millionaire salad comes from Lee's Mom's traditional thanksgiving salad which the kids just love! Then the pies are tastes my Mom passed down. We wish you and yours a beautiful Thanksgiving with your family and friends! Pamela

Lee and Carol:

What a lovely tradition.  Our traditions relate to food and what we share on Thanksgiving.  I love this holiday.

Thanks Michael Murphy! No better place to spend Thanksgiving than here in the Murphy mountains!

That is one of our favorite things to do too, Glen. Thanksgiving with family and friends is the perfect time to reflect on all the blessings we've had that year.

No time better to be with family, Bob. Wishing you a wonderful Thanksgiving.

Millionaire Salad...you've got to share that one, Pamela. Stuffing is my favorite dish. We all have so much to be thankful for this year!

Lovely old fashion Thanksgiving card Fred. A blessed Thanksgiving to you and your family in Canada. Looking forward to that recipe too.
