Weather in Rio Rancho, NM

Real Estate Agent with Southwest Realty 41830

Rio Rancho, NM has a wide, unobjectionable climate. It’s arid, with lots of sunshine (on average, 330 days of it), and even in the winter, most of the day is spent with plenty of sunlight.

Because it is a desert, temperature differences between day and night can be pretty drastic. Summer and winter have this the worst, where the temperature difference can be as much as thirty degrees Fahrenheit. July and August are the hottest months out of the year, with the temperature reaching as high as 100 (though, on average, it’s in the 90’s), and December is the coldest month. Typically, gets around 8 inches of rainfall a year.

Snow occurs, but it’s rarely over a few inches. However, Rio Ranch sits to the west of the Sandia Mountains, and has a great view of the peak once it’s snow-capped.

The often-favorable winds, and Rio Rancho’s ideal location north-west of Albuquerque, give balloonists a place to play. The sky is often dotted with these colorful curiosities, weekday and weekend.
