Chanukah is December 8th to 16th 2012
The First Candle of Chanukah is lit on Saturday night, December 8th and the last candle on Sunday night, December 16th for a total of eight days. We light the Menorah, a symbol of the Jewish people, in celebration of religious freedom. This is a joyous occasion of hope and miracles.
My community has candle lighting ceremonies in different locations during the holiday. All are welcome to participate. Come see the giant Menorah. Join a community menorah lighting ceremony on Wednesday, December 10, 2012 at 5 pm at New Windsor NY - Town Hall, with a reception to follow at the Community Center.
Another celebration and lighting will be held Tuesday December 11, at 5:30 pm, Newburgh, NY celebration - Mayor Judy Kennedy will be present at the lighting at 5:30 on Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. and Second Street. A celebration will follow at the Yellow Bird Building (Downing Film Center) 19 Front St. Newburgh NY on the Waterfront.
Join a community menorah lighting ceremony in Cornwall NY - December 12, 2012 at 5:30 pm at Ring's Pond, with a reception following at Munger Cottage.
Enjoy latkes, donuts, hot drinks, Hanukkah gelt, dreidels crafts and games.
