Truckee Trails Receive $2.9 Million Grant
"The Truckee River Legacy Trail Phase 3B Project has been selected to receive $2.9 million in funding from the California River Parkways grant program, enabling construction of another 1.5 miles of trail from its current terminus to the eastern side of Martis Creek. This leaves only $1.5 million left to raise to complete the trail to Glenshire! Truckee Trails Foundation made the announcement. Click here for more details about the grant.
Many more trails are in the Town of Truckee's Master Plan, including a paved pathway connecting Tahoe Donner with downtown. Truckee Trails Foundation was established as a trails and bicycle advocacy group in 2002, Truckee Trails has since led implementation of over $18 million in trails and bike-way improvements within the greater Truckee community. Here at Tahoe Donner, members can support trails in many ways. We host volunteer trail maintenance days during the beautiful summer months. At the Lodge Restaurant & Pub, guests can donate to the Buck for Trails program on every check, with the proceeds shared jointly by the Truckee Trails Foundation and the Truckee Donner Land Trust. As mentioned above, the Tahoe Donner Trails Master Plan is in draft form, and the next workshop is Friday. Plan on attending to share your thoughts and learn more about the details of the proposed plan."

As with this article, the fact that the referenced trail system is outside of the boundaries of Tahoe Donner, it is still important information for all of us who live and play in the Truckee area. This is wonderful information as the Legacy Trail is a fantastic trail system and knowing that the expansion is still in place, all the way to Glenshire is fantastic news!!
