Holiday Party Breads

Holiday PartyAlong with all the finger foods, chips and dips, you’ll need some luscious Festive Breads as well. The following breads can be served with cream cheese, butter or complimentary jellies. These breads are so good that your guests will be asking for the recipes; so be prepared.

 

 

 

Gum Drop Bread

 

 

 

1 cup cut-up Dates (or Date Crystals)      2 1/4 cup Flour

 

1 tsp Soda                                                      1/4 tsp Salt

 

1/4 cup Butter                                               1 cup Gum Drops (& additional sugar)

 

1 cup Sugar                                                               (Green and Red, if possible)

 

2 Eggs                                                             1 cup chopped Walnuts or Pecans

 

 

 

If gum drops are large, cut in quarters – if small, cut in half. Roll gum drops in sugar and set aside. Cook dates in 1 cup of water for 5 minutes; then add soda and let cool. Cream butter and sugar; add eggs and then beat until blended. Add flour and salt; mix well. Then add dates mixing well, followed by gum drops. After gum drops are well blended, add nuts and mix until all is well combined. Bake in 9 x 5 loaf pan at 275 degrees for 2 hours.

 

 

 

Cranberry Pumpkin Bread (makes 2 loaves)

 

 

 

2 lightly beaten Eggs                                   1 Tbsp Pumpkin Pie Spice

 

2 cups Sugar                                                  1 tsp Baking Soda

 

1/2 cup Oil                                                    1/2 tsp Salt

 

1 cup Libby’s® canned Pumpkin               1 cup chopped Cranberries

 

2 1/4 cups Flour                                                       (or Cranraisins®)

 

 

 

Combine eggs, sugar, oil, and pumpkin; mix well. Combine flour, pumpkin pie spice, soda and salt in large bowl; after well blended, make well in center. Pour pumpkin mixture in well; stir just until dry ingredients are moistened. Stir in cranberries (Cranraisins®). Spoon batter in 2 greased and floured 8 x 3¼ loaf pans. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour, or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.

 

 

 

Simple Apple-Raisin Bread

 

 

 

1 medium Apple                                           1 1/2 tsp Ground Cinnamon

 

            (pared and finely chopped)            3 Eggs

 

2 Tbsp Maple Flavored Syrup                    1/2 cup Milk

 

3 cups Bisquick®                                                        1/2 cup Raisins

 

1/2 cup Sugar                                                            (or Cranraisins®)

 

                                                                        1/2 cup finely chopped Nuts

 

 

 

Mix apple and syrup, and set aside. In large bowl, beat eggs lightly on low speed; add milk and beat until blended. Add Bisquick® , sugar, and cinnamon continue to beat on low until all is blended (approximately 30 seconds); scraping bowl frequently. Increase speed to medium and continue to beat for 3 minutes, scraping bowl occasionally. Stir in apple mixture, raisins (or Cranraisins®), and nuts. Pour into 9 x 5 loaf pan and bake at 350 degrees for 55 to 60 minutes, until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Allow to cool in loaf pan for 10 minutes before removing. Cool completely before slicing.

 

 

 

Pineapple Bread

 

 

 

1 (8.5 oz) can crushed Pineapple              3/4 cup chopped Walnuts

 

            (drained)                                            3/4 cup unsifted Whole Wheat Flour

 

1/2 cup Raisins                                             3/4 cup Golden Brown Sugar        

 

1 cup sifted All-Purpose Flour                               (firmly packed)       

 

2 tsp Baking Powder                                    3 Tbsp Butter (softened)

 

1/2 tsp Salt                                                    2 Eggs

 

1/4 tsp Baking Soda

 

 

 

Mix pineapple and raisins; set aside. Sift flour, baking powder, salt, and soda into bowl; add walnuts and whole wheat flour. In separate bowl, cream sugar and butter; add eggs and beat well. Stir in half of flour mixture; then add pineapple and raisins blending well. Then add rest of flour mixture beating just until blended. Spoon into greased 9 x 5 loaf pan and bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour or until done.
