Where are you going?

""Would you tell me, please, which way I ought to go from here?'
'That depends a good deal on where you want to get to,' said the Cat.
'I don't much care where--' said Alice
'Then it doesn't matter which way you go,' said the Cat" -- Alice's Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll

The more specific you are about where you want to be, the easier it is to get there. A whole month has gone by and we've all talked about business plans for 2008. How many of you have actually put the pen-to-paper?

Remember, it's never too late to get started.

If you're goal is to close $10 million or more in production this year, get started now! Start doing the things that will say to your clients: I want you back!

Schedule luncheons, coffee meetings, etc. Send them hand-written notes... Remind them that you're a friend and that you care and the referrals will casually start to pour in. But it only begins when you put the pen-to-paper and start planning where you want to go.

What are your plans for 2008?

What have you been doing that you find effective?

Analysis of last year's business plans, achievements and areas that didn't do so hot are important in looking ahead to the new year.  It is important to have a business plan that includes being able to measure the results, or lack there of, so you can adjust as need be.  Many spend money on marketing and advertising, but not all are able to measure the results.

Tara: Let's get busy!

Rebecca: Why change what works when it's working so well? But you're right, we have to find a way to measure our results in order to really determine what's working and what isn't.

Judi: my pleasure! Thanks for stopping by :) Now let's get busy.

Charity: it's a lot more than when we don't!

Sure it sounds silly and if you've been doing it for years there might be no need, but sometimes, going back to the basics really helps.

Well said! You have to know where the goal is if you ever want to get there. A marathon runner doesn't go out and just run in a straight line with no idea where the finish is. He knows where that finish is and he then figures out how to get their by training.

We need to do the same, draw the finish line and we will make it!
