Life In West Linn Oregon|My Five Faves From This Weeks Police Blog 1-25-13
Every week I enjoy receiving my copy of the West Linn Tidings local paper where you get to read the police blog and the calls they go out for in West Linn. With about 26,000 people living in West Linn, there is garanteed to be some kind of antics or problems, but for the most part the police blog reads more small town antics then anything. If we were Mayberry, It would read " Otis came in and locked himself up again".
So,here are my top five faves from this weeks police blog from last week:
1. 1/9/13 @ 6:37 PM: "Two Solicitors in the seventeen hundred block of Dollar Street raised suspicions" I know I am always leery of opening my door when a solicitor is outside. Most are ok...but some do make me nervous. Just a sign of the times. Now, I will admit that I was very leery of opening my door when I noted the smaller shadow through the glass door. I knew it had to be one of the most dangerous of all soliciters this time of year....yep, my local girl scout selling cookies. I guess they must have done surveys knowing that by the time these cookies come in, most people are SO ready to just sit and indulge after eating lettuce all January!
2. 1/13/13 @1:06 AM: "A suspected peeping Tom in the 2100 block of Hidden Springs Court was a teen trying to get a friend"s attention" Oh...so busted!
3. 1/12/13 @11:41 PM: " A man with binoculars was "acting strangely" in the 1300 block of Fourth Street." Hmm..perhaps the real peeping Tom? I don't think you can bird watch in the dark...
4. 1/17/13 @ 11:52 PM: "A man in the 22700 block of Johnson Road reported a suspicious vehicle in front of his home parked for 5-10 minutes. Police found the caller's daughter in the vehicle." Guess her thoughts of sneaking in past curfew were quickly dashed when the police showed up.
And my fave of the week:
5. 1/12/13 @ 1:17 AM: "Two drunken woman knocked on the door in the 22800 block of Wilamette Drive just to "say hi" ". Oh, how friendly..how nice. I bet they thought it as hilarious and just being neighborly. Hmmm...don't think I would have called the cops (maybe a cab) but I would have been a bit put off if they rang my doorbell giving me slurry greetings at 1:17 AM. At least they were friendly drunks.
Yep, this is just a tid bit of life in West Linn. There were others like a mean one like where juveniles threw rocks at a 9 year old at a skate park..bullying is just unexeptable....or the one that I am shaking my head on why police where called where books were found on a sidewalk to the lucky one where a five year old boy was in a parking lot looking for his parents....that ended up well.
I once read that a local military solder stationed in Afganistan loved getting this newspaper and reading these. It helped with him missing home life here in West Linn. I can see that.
