Don't Insult The Crocodile Before You Cross The Bridge

By
Real Estate Agent with Keller Williams Realty 0575737

Crocodile Open MouthThere's a little rule in the real estate world that says

Don't Insult The Crocodile Before You Cross The Bridge.

It relates to the art of negotiating skillfully. NOTHING happens unless a deal gets done and Agent 1 and Agent 2 and Buyer and Seller are the four parties and it only takes ONE to mess it all up. Agents should work with their principals. But this is not meant to be a rant, but have you ever encountered the ANGRY AGENT? Just an observation. They fight you tooth and nail, want their Title Company, concede nothing, stonewall you with poor communication, INSULT YOU!

You remind them, if the closing table is never found THEY will not be paid. So a reminder for YOU to tell them or if you see yourself as this angry agent, or angry buyer or seller, cool your jets if you hope SOMETHING to happen some day. You can be angry AFTER the transaction

OTHERWISE THE CROCODILE will make a tasty MORSEL of you with your insults!! Chomp. Chomp.

Great title and photo. Thankfully this does not happen often when working with a seasoned professional. Would love to hear the story that triggered this post.

Gary- oh so true... and not just in Real Estate.  Catching those flys with honey is the way to go... you can spray them with RAID later.

Good suggestions and this applies to a lot more then real estate.  I never heard the expression before and it's a good one.

Gary-The saying that you catch more flies with honey than vinegar or if you can't say anything nice don't say anything at all.

I don't get where some people think they can put you  down and then want you to give in to their whims.

I agree - negotiations are very important - the agenst and how they communicate with the other parties involved can make or break the deal ...

Margaret: Not a recent episode with the angry agent, but in the past I have had my share Margaret. They confound me, almost like they don't care if they get paid or not. Why they are in business, this business, perplexes me?

Kathy: Spray them with RAID later. LOL. That's a good one.

Carla: We all just have to find a way to get along.

Bo: Some months and years, we do run into more of those aggravating pull your hair out opposing agents than other times.

Sharon: Wise words. The honey approach is best. That keeping your mouth shut with not nice things to say we all should work on till we are like that all the time.

Bill: Some people just have that sense of superiority about them. I don't know where it comes from either, especially in business. Some are just into power I guess...

Pam: You know it is going to be tough sledding when you see that angry agent on the other side as representation. Luckily it is an exception rather than a rule.

Sondra: That is like the sandbox rules Mom taught us. Play nicely. Somehow into adulthood too many forget that.

Marilyn: Any of those four parties you are so correct can come up as the DEALBREAKER.
