Technically speaking, Pistachios are not really nuts...they are actually seeds. In an official declaration, the Queen of Sheba named them a "royal fruit." Pistachios are an excellent source of vitamin B6, copper and manganese and a good source of protein, fiber, thiamin, and phosphorus
Their "cheerful personality" has nick named them "the happy nut" in China and "the smiling nut" in Iran.
Pistachios make me smile....they remind me sooo much of my Dad. It was a Packer tradition...he and my husband would convene in the front of the TV with frosty mugs of root beer and bowls of pistachio nuts...soon accompanied by bowls of the red shells....and cheer/coach the team so much a part of Wisconsin heritage.
