Photo Friday: Bug!

By
Industry Observer with ARFCO Media

Yesterday on my way home the afternoon sun is waning and the shadows are growing long. I stopped for a few groceries when I spotted this VW Bug in the Safeway parking lot. My first car was a 1966 bug and it still ranks right up near the top of my favorite cars. It was just so much fun to drive.

I try to get a photo when I see one. This one is really straight and in remarkably good shape for being 40 years old. I think it's a 73 or 74.

Classic early 70's VW Bug.

The shot was taken with my iPhone 4s using the Camera+ App… It's my default camera app and I love all the tools for taking photos, editing and applying special effects.

What a cool looking car -- and that photo is pretty great, too. Has kind of an "old school" look to it.

Yeah that looks like a pretty early model. I almost bought one just like that except a different color.

Peggy: And it's in great shape. I love the Camera+ App, it did add a little mood to it.

Hi Adrian: I think you're about right with the mileage. I use to drive 90 miles everyday and 6 days later I still had gas!

Jeanne and Ralph: I think it's a 73? I'd love to have one again for "nice weather" driving.

My first car was a 66 Bug too.  Tan in color.  Then in 1978 I bought a bug limited edition convertible and it had the 1600 CC engine in it.  I owned the car unti 2004.  Loved that buggie...Vinnie VW.

Hi Cindy... Mine was blue. You definitely got your money's worth! ;O) I put a million miles on mine too, and I'd probably still have it if I hadn't totalled it.

Ah the days of the VW Bug...... Those were the good ole days.  We drove forever spending our lunch money on a tank of gas!

John: And that's the way I remember it... basically lunch money once or twice got you a 100+ miles! :O)

Tony & Darcy: Isn't it! One of the few I have seen for many years that was in such good shape that hadn't been obviously remodeled seriously! I'm thinking they had a garage and not a lot of driving... Lucky Owner!

Hi Debbie: I think you'll love Camera+... It took me a little while to figure out all the things it can do. Now, I couldn't live without it!

Hi Debb: My grandma used to talk to little birds! :O) Yep it is my B'Day and thanks for the kind wishes... Love Karmann Ghia convertibles, but I think you're right, in Alaska! Hmmmm ;O)
