Real Estate Teams Good or Bad?

By
Real Estate Agent with Atlanta Real Estate

I have attended seminars about real estate teams.  The things I heard made a lot of sense.  In a time when the financial resources of agents are limited it would only seem natural that pooled resources would max out the use of them.

Here is where the problem is.......

I know of a real estate company with only one team that exists, and is made up of two of the owners, one of the top producing agents and a licensed assistant.  What makes it different is that they do a lot of advertising.  More advertising than the company, and a large amount of business is being funneled into the team and not the company (rest of the agents).  The advertising denotes the fact that they are owners and agents don't stand a chance against getting the business away from the owners that will do it for the same price.

The company has made several cuts due to the slow market. The team made up of two of the owners, has continued to increase ad budgets and has added several new technology tools further widening the gap between them and the rest of the agents in the company.

As a result of this, the company has lost several agents that have gone on with other companies.  The ones who have remained say that they see nothing wrong with the team but who knows what they really think.

I am interested in hearing your opinions.
