Last Snow of the Season...Only Mother Nature Knows for Sure

Last Snow of the Season...Only Mother Nature Knows for Sure. Our Cedaredge, Colorado weather can be very unpredictable. Everyone always says, it you don't like the weather wait five minutes and it'll change. After wearing shorts and sandals over the weekend, it was difficult to adjust to the recent weather changes.

Last Snow of the Season...Only Mother Nature Knows for Sure

This last spring storm took a lot of people by surprise. We've been hearing about snow storms all winter, but we never got any big storms. This one was different. It started out with a lot of rain on Monday and then turned to snow on Tuesday.

This forsythia bush is all ready for spring too, but I don't think the snow is going to hurt it. In town we only got about two inches. But the temperatures dropped down into the teens.

The Cedaredge Chapel of the Cross always look good after a snow, but the robins in the trees don't seem too happy. The snow is making it harder for them to find food.

The Cedaredge Town Park has been a busy place with the warmer spring weather we've had, but no one is there today. The weather is suppose to start warming up, and that will bring the kids back to play.

This area is known for it's exceptional fruit. Apricot trees all over have been blooming. Whether this snow and cold temps will affect the harvest isn't known yet. It got down below 17 degrees at my house last night. This orchard is just a few miles outside of town. These apple trees haven't started to bloom, so the recent storm won't affect them.

Thanks, John and I wish you guys could get some more moisture. I know how badly you need it. I hope we get a few more storms like this one that will bless with a lot of moisture.

Debbie, I grew up in Milwaukee WI and I remember we got a late snow storm one year on April 19th. The good news with these late in the season snow storms, the snow does not last that long. Love the chapel picture!

Nice pictures. I'm in the AZ mountains, and we got a little snow from that syatem, also. I REALLY hope that's winter's last hurrah. We've had a lot of above average temps, but also a lot of rain and snow this year. I'm ready for summer!

Thanks, Kathy...I just checked the weather and we might have some more snow coming our way. We really need. These late storms may be our saving grace for the local farmers.

Hi, Leslie...that's great that you've gotten so much moisture. We are really behind in my area, and the farmer's are worried.

Hi Debbie, I am always upset when there are blossoms galore and then we get hit with a freeze and even snow.  Hopefully all of your blooms will survive the cold and snow.  Enjoy your afternoon!

Debbie, thank you for sharing your lovely photos today, especially the apricot orchard, which used to grow plentiful in my valley, but not any more. :(

Debbie, Gorgeous photos and although you may not have been expecting it, just think  a little more moisture for the ground and for the trees to grow,

Debbie, our son was in Colorado for this storm - he had a bonanza for snowboarding! He and his friends were so excited and had the best time! Your photos are beautiful.

What a mess this is.  It is still coming down in buckets with lightning and thunder!  Whew...good thing I took the snowblower off last week!  Now, I can shovel 8 to 10 inches to get out of the garage!

Hello Debbie,

While we have been enjoying a lovely, early Spring - most of the country still seems to be having winter.  Your photos are gorgeous, but I am sure you are ready for green instead of white!

Debbie, I love your photos.  My Mom had a forsythia in Denver whose blooms got frozen so many times...she finally gave up on it, I remember her disappointment through many seasons.  I hope the apricots make it, God bless the farmers; they just never know about our fickle weather! It can be hard life.

Debbie, I love seeing that white stuff in photos.  And, you know, when it comes this late in the season, it probably won't last long.  Thanks for sharing those wonderful photos.  Love the robins in the tree.

Debbie, yes it isn't over till it's over. I was supposed to be in Fort Collins right now, but too busy to leave. Anyway, I'm disappointed that I'll miss the snow and cold.

Just when I thought winter was behind us, weather in the mod 70's we get 3 inches of sleet and ice and snow yesterday. But today the sun comes out, up to 50 already and almost all melted and off to softball.
