Real Estate Agent Self Defense Workshop In Silicon Valley

Real Estate Self Defense Workshop SaferAgent and Santa Clara Kenpo Academy (SCKA) will conduct a Real Estate Agent Self Defense Workshop at SCKA's martial arts training facility on Homestead Road in Santa Clara on May 7, 2013 from 7:45pm to 9:15pm. This hands-on workshop is designed to address the unique safety threats agents face in the workplace. Instruction will focus on self defense methods agents can use once careful planning and other precautions have failed.

“The workshop provides agents with the tools to respond to attacks in situations typical to their profession,” explains Sandra Agonoy, Owner and Head Instructor at Santa Clara Kenpo Academy. The workshop expands upon women’s self-defense courses recently taught by Mrs. Agonoy, though the agent workshop is designed for both men and women. “This is an entry level workshop. Developing the skills and confidence to use the simple techniques we’ll cover will take time and practice, just like learning the complex business of real estate,” Mrs. Agonoy says.

Appropriate dress for the workshop is athletic wear or warm ups with long pants and a T-shirt or sweatshirt (shorts not recommended). Even though attendees will be learning and practicing self defense techniques, no special protective gear is required.

Santa Clara Kenpo Academy is one of Silicon Valley’s premier martial arts training facilities, offering belt-progression classes in American Kenpo karate and instruction in kickboxing, stick, knife, and other disciplines. Mrs. Agonoy has over 20 years martial arts experience. She and her staff train all levels of students from children through adults.

The SaferAgent project was started by Bay Area real estate professional John Souerbry in response to the growing number of attacks on real estate agents across the country. SaferAgent is a resource for information to improve agent safety and a co-sponsor of real estate agent self defense training. John is a former US Army officer and trains in American Kenpo karate.

Online registration for the workshop is recommended, though there will also be on-site registration on the day of the workshop IF SPACE PERMITS. Attendees should arrive early, there is limited parking and the workshop will start promply at 7:45pm.
