Spring has Sprung In My West Linn Backyard

By
Real Estate Agent with Premiere Property Group,LLC Portland Metro & Suburbs Oregon

Spring has sprung throughout the Portland Metro Area, but one of my favorite views is right in my own West Linn backyard! I love how the Japanese maples have filled Spring Has Sprung In My West Linn Backyardin..seemingly overnight. Before long the gorgeous fat pink cherry blossoms will turn turn to leaves.

I took advantage of walking through the "pink snow" below before this happens. My tulips are now almost fading and the blue scilla has blanketed many areasof my yard. My favorite though is the main reason we bought the house.

The first time we walked through the front door and took in that huge wall of windows that framed out the elegant weeping willow..well, we were sold! We thought we might have lost it at one point, but it's come in nice and thick this year. I'm feeling the weather is good to get my annuals in my pots to pretty up my deck. Ooh..I just love perusing my favorite local garden centers!

Yep, spring has sprung in my West Linn back yard and I for one am LOVING it!

Hi Debbie, I have set up a very nice home office where that is exactly what I look at. My regular office is OK..and at least I have a window but this view beats the parking lot view anyday!

What a beautiful back-yard Cindy! I hear ya about the Weeping Willow.. we had one on my street and the county took it down because it's roots were to close to the water main. It was a sad day in the neighborhood.

Hi Andrea, that's exactly what happened to the one we had back in long Island. The town said the roots doing the same so they put some chemicals down and it ended up illing the tree. Hopefully, living close to the Tualatin river has the roots running that way!

Cindy, that's a fabulous backyard and I can see why you celebrate Spring in your corner of West Linn.  You're living in a resort.  I'm a gardener myself and I share your enjoyment of the beauty of nature.  Our red Japanese Maple also transforms itself from bare branches to lush deep red leaves seemingly overnight.

Hi Dan, it is a great time of year for sure! Homes and curb appeal just start looking so much better when flowers and trees are in bloom.

Hi Lloyd, Ya know..my home at one point was a tiny B & B. Not quite sure how they did that since we are in a neighborhood..but it was. When we purchased it, there was a HUGE pond in the yard that was just a mess and would have cost us quite a bit to repair/replace it. We ended up filling it in, but I would love to have a smaller version back. The yard just screams for it.

Hi Rob, LOL...I was just showing a home where the entire yard was bark dust. I do love a green lawn....but, we do have a service come and take care of it weekly so I can just enjoy planting what I like.

Hi Jill, It's a home that's not for everyone and anything but "cookie cutter". It was just love at first sight for us.

Cindy, I thoroughly enjoy our Koi pond and waterfall.   It's a focal point with a deck on two sides.  But Koi are pets and do require attention and maintenance.   I buy small, inexpensive babies (~$25) (but high quality imported from Japan) so if the Egrets get them (and it happens) it doesn't hurt too bad.  There are methods to prevent that.  Don't do it impulsively.  Everyone wishes they would have studied ponds more before they installed one.  It I had to do it again, I'd locate it closer to the house so I could easily hear the waterfall from inside the house.  Here's some possible Portland resources. The Koi clubs have expert professional pond builders plus lots of helpful hobbyists.   Some people just have water plants.  Good filtration is the important part for Koi.

Hi Lloyd, thanks for those links! I live pretty close to a river, so I know the larger birds would just look at my pond as a dinner source! When we had the pond, we only had rain water in half of it and I thouroughly enjoyed the two ducks that would fly in and hang out for the day.
