Earth Week -Things aren't the same as they were back in the 50s (3)
We should be conscious of our Earth and recycle and save energy where we can and support our clean environment and all of our surroundings. Things have changed drastically in the past 50 years and will again in the next 50 years! Lets do our best to preserve our beautiful earth and I can certainly picture myself in this photo.
Continuing with our Earth Week series- Earth Week 2013 promises energy solutions right now, or at least any
day now. In Asheville, NC, many of our aging-in-place clients havetaken a few simple steps to make “Forever Homes” more comfortable-while saving money. And money isn't all that may be saved.

Energy for lighting accounts for about 10% of your electric bill.
So it is always a good idea to check out the wattage on your light bulbs in your house. 100-watt bulbs use more energy than 75 watt bulbs do and you may not need all that wattage. I like the idea of replacing incandescent light bulbs with efficient compact fluorescent lamps for areas where lights are on for hours at a time.
By now you know that the new fluorescent bulbs don't moan and flicker like the old ones did. ...Annual Savings: $60 (for upgrading your five most frequently used lights) 662 pounds of coal.
