One of the best places to take small children in the entire DC metro area is Glen Echo Park.  Operated by the National Park Service, Glen Echo Park uses the abandoned buildings from an old amusement park.  The Family Day on May 4, a fun-filled annual event, celebrates the opening of the historic Dentzel Carousel for its 93rd season in Glen Echo Park and offers a full day of activities for families. The carousel operates from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., $1.25 per ride.

The Family Day 2013 is filled with performances and dancers, including the acclaimed storyteller Diane Macklin, world renowned Taiko drummer Mark H. Rooney, and award winning dance/performance group Urban Artistry.  Other events will include the local children's ballet school, Ballet Petite, performing La Sylphide, an Irish dance school,  magic shows, a a performance by the Washington Conservatory.

There are lots of great things to do in the Washington DC area with your friends and families - and this should be on everyone's list for this weekend! If you are moving to the DC area and need help finding a home, please give the Lise Howe Group a call! We love showing off our home town! Glen Echo is so close to many wonderful areas, such as the townhouses at Kenwood Forest or single family homes in Chevy Chase and Bethesda.

Lise, that ferris wheel is one of my favorite things at Glen Echo Park.  The art exhibits are so much fun to attend as well.
