Wine and painting....how, when and why this new trend started I have no idea, but suffice to say it's a blast!
A few weeks ago I was invited to a Corks and Canvas party at Vino Wine Bar at the Landing in Renton. We all painted the same canvas but put our personal twist on it.
It turns out I was seated with two other Real Estate agents and the good friend of a long ago real estate co-worker and through our giggles we had some good conversation about the business.
You'd think after 23 years working as a Real Estate Broker in the greater Seattle market, I'd get tired of talking about real estate. Maybe if I had gotten into the business for any reason other than my passion for houses and the house-hunting process I would have become weary by now, but that's definitely not the case.
I love talking real estate!
I also love getting creative and problem solving. Maybe that's why I enjoy negotiating short sales as much as I do or marketing listings which calls for capturing the personality of a property and positioning it in just the right way to attract the highest offer.
Many times in the course of a real estate transaction we're forced to get creative.
Whether it's finding a way to get a client's offer accepted by the bank, or getting your buyer into the short sale they had been patiently awaiting approval on only to have the house to to Trustee's Sale (yes, this happened and we succeeded in getting the buyer's offer accepted as soon as the property was re-listed as a bank-owned home) or drumming up interest for a "unique" property which is generating little to no traffic.
The creative Realtor is one who thinks outside the box and doesn't like to take no for an answer.
I'm lucky to have one of the best Buyer's agents in the business on my team. She's like a dog with a bone and won't accept "No" for an answer until all options have been exhausted. The current climate of low inventory and multiple offers often forces us to get creative.
As a side note, I was the only painter in the group with a purple background (Cabernet inspired, perhaps?) and I look forward to more of these fun get-togethers. But although I'm pretty happy with the way my first canvas turned out, I won't be quitting my day job any time soon.
The art world can relax.
