I'm watching my website being attacked in real time

ScreamI’ve been sitting here in my home office doing a little maintenance on my email inbox. It’s not a zero inbox that some people strive for, but I’m making progress.

In the background my inbox is exploding with notifications of attacks on my website. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again...why would anybody want to break into a real estate website?

This one is sophisticated. Every attempt has been from a different ip address, and there have been quite a few. As a matter of fact, 1,489 break in attempts in the last nine minutes...and they just keep coming.

The best defense is some sort of security plug in if you’re using WordPress...AND...the strongest password you can stand. Don’t forget to remove Admin as a user, that’s the default when you set up a Wordpress site.

I’m sure they’ll get tired after a while...at least I hope so. I need to get some sleep.

So far, my website security is holding, but my inbox is getting slammed with notifications which I’m reluctant to turn off. For now, I’d rather get the bazillion email notifications so I know what’s going on.

It's good to know that you are only getting notifications that attempts are being made and have not been successful. Multiple attempts are not unusual as this is how they normally get it - pure luck based on normal patterns.

I'm glad that you have security software and are receiving notices rather than having your site hacked. It is amazing how many attempts can be made and how sophisticated they are.
