La Mesa, CA is a great place to walk! First, La Mesa has been designated a Tree City USA for 33 years now, so you know you’ll see beautiful greenery throughout the city, whether you’re out enjoying the day at Lake Murray, or busy exploring downtown La Mesa Village.
The La Mesa Arts Alliance is creating a downtown La Mesa Walking Tour highlighting the colorful art displayed on the downtown La Mesa utility boxes. Local artists are the the masters behind these creative civic canvases. They sure brighten up our city!
Walk and Talk La Mesa meets every Tuesday morning at 9AM for a comfortably paced walk to various nearby locations-- keep fit and enjoy the great weather and new friends. Come the first Tuesday of every month and get information on the subsequent Tuesday walks; just meet in the parking lot at Porter Hall on the corner ofMemorial Drive and La Mesa Boulevard.
If you like to walk and window shop, two great locations are Grossmont Center Mall with plenty of intriguing shops, fun eateries and a fantastic outdoor setting, and La Mesa Village with all sorts of tempting restaurants, antique stores and clothing boutiques.
If you’d like to enjoy a breathtaking view from San Diego to Mexico to the mountains, make sure you take the hike up to the top of Mt Helix. Make sure to take pictures of this peaceful panorama, crowned by a gleaming 30 foot high cross which can be seen throughout the county.
