You have to admire the perseverance and the determination to reach a goal of 500,000 points as a personal birthday gift. I don't remember what I gave myself when I turned 50. Here's to you Bob

About a year ago, I was 4 months into the blogging thing and thought that I had it all figured out and set my sights on becoming a free rainmaker by the end of August of 2013, if I worked hard and steady toward this goal.

A few months ago when I cleared the 400k milestone, I made the bold prediction that I would not only reach this goal in August, but would reach this lofty milestone by my 50th birthday on August 4th.

Since that time I have had a few doubts about this bold prediction, but with steady blogging, spam reporting, lots of visiting in the comments, and of course entering every contest, I am getting very close.

Getting 7500 in bonus points for the June contests helped a lot, but the July contests likely will not be seeing the proceeds that quickly since it only allows the good folks at AR 2 days to get them processed.

Without counting contest points I am expecting to be between 200 and 500 short of my goal, but I am not one to accept defeat too quickly and I am sure there are other ways to reach this goal.

  1. Write an exception post or two that get featured.
  2. Write some exceptional posts that inspire my friends and fellow bloggers to reblog them.
  3. Write great blogs that inspire lots of comments.
  4. Go through my list of apps, programs, and other stuff and write reviews for them.
  5. Hope some of the July contests pay off quickly.
