I can now use punctuation and capitalization properly - My Texting 101 class results

By
Real Estate Agent with Keller Williams Realty - Lakeside Market Center

With gratitude to my DN (Darling Niece), I am now able to text message using proper
capitalization (I can find the keys!) and punctuation (Go me!)

Leighann didn't give me a grade for the class, but I believe after the text message
that I sent her last evening I earned an "A" for the material we covered.

I was more impressed however with her skills. She announced after she showed
me a few shortcuts that she could actually type out complete sentences with her
eyes closed.

Of course, I was skeptical. I shouldn't have been. She texted me with "Let's get
dressed and go out for breakfast" with her eyes closed and didn't have one mistake
in the sentence.

Kids. You gotta love 'em!

Actually, what was equally impressive was watching her play "Leap High" with her
kitty Phoenix. (Yes, he IS huge. This photo was not doctored!)

Nannette:   I was thinking the same thing when I watched her do that.  She should at the very least be able to earn a couple of more college credits for being able to do that!

Steven:  It took me twice as long to read your comment :-)  Loved it though!  Thank you.

Kris, I learn something new everyday. The other day I was even able to help my son, that just started using a blackberry how to make it capital letter. I also learned for myself hitting the space bar puts in the @ sign, which always slowed me down. Maybe we should practice with each other.

Kris - you sound like me! My son't girlfriend had to show me how to use my Blackberry...after being called a dork for having such a technical phone...why did I buy it if I couldn't use it?? Well, I can make a phone call and check my email.

Kris--I make it a practice when I buy something new and technical to had it to one of my teens to figure it out then show me how to make it work. They are soooo much better at it than I. Glad the lessons went well...What a cute kitty! He really can leap up can't he!

Dennis: Tomorrow is the first exhibition game :-)   Yes, I'll have much to do and listen to and watch...it's hard juggling it all during baseball season!

Charles:   I think I'm going to ask her if she can do that!  Wouldn't that be something to video?

Mike:  I hope texting doesn't replace email.  I can't imagine a lengthy email being translated into acronyms.  I do think it will be a nice complement though...who knows, I guess we're all going to see for ourselves.

Pam:  She's actually going to be in Florida for spring break.  I have a feeling though more classes will be the last thing on her agenda :-)

Missy:  Isn't that a fun "Yahoo" moment when we learn something new?  I love it.  I think we must have very different phones/keypads.  I can hit my spacebar several times and not get the @ symbol.   Now I'm curious as to where my @ symbol is!

Gary:  I feel your frustration.  I can type well, but it is a different ballgame with the keypads on the phone!

Linda:  My kids would call me that also if I had a phone with all the bells and whistles and didn't use them.  I'm like you, I can call and email, shouldn't that be sufficient?

Teri:  I do that all the time :-)  Either my sons or my hubby gets asked "Please walk me through this..."

Diane:   I'm trying to learn, but oh my I prefer to type away on an old fashioned keyboard.  I envy the kids..they seem to take to it so naturally.

Carole:  Glad to hear your daughter will be home soon!  By all means, hit her up for some personal classes :-)

Gary:  I don't think she's even worked on the syllabus yet for Texting 102!  He is HUGE, but he's absolutely gorgeous and so much fun.

Cute post, Kris!  My DN (Darling Nephew) comes to town to help out old Aunt Pat with some of this stuff.  I'm still not into text messages, though I'm pretty fast with my thumbs on my Blackberry!

Your post makes me think I should call my cousin and ask her about texting.  I can't do anything.  I know about three acronyms...  I text, just not well.

Patricia:   Glad your DN is coming to town soon to help you out!   I had to laugh..I cannot type with my thumbs at all!

Marlene:  I can read the acronyms, just can't bring myself to type them.  However I can now type a ? or a period and start a new sentence :-)
