Are many of your clients small business owners?

Small business owners could be in a world of trouble if they were to get sued. They stand to lose substantially because it not only affects their business it may also affect them personally. They really do need legal help. Check the news paper and you'll see all the challenges that business owners are faced with. The law suits are over the top.

Even business owners who operate from home have to protect themselves. If they interact with people in any way they have to protect themselves. If they ship products, they need to protect themselves. If they go to other businesses for any other reason, they have to protect themselves. If they do business with other businesses they have to protect themselves.

What most business owners don't realize their responsibility they have to secure the personal information of their customers, vendors and employees. If something were to happen and some personal information a business owner had on file came up missing, who do you think would be responsible? It may not seem fair but the reality is business owners are responsible for more than just selling products and services. The administrative end of things have to be taken care of as well. That's where a Business Legal Plan comes in handy. Business owners interested in finding out more details should check out Wikipedia.org Good third party information is always a good way to evaluate a company.

Great reminder of the whole privacy policy issue.  We always have subcontractors sign a confidentiality agreement before doing any work for us.  That's just so that we can protect ourselves if some of the client's information is damaged or comes up missing.  You just can't beat a good confidentiality agreement!  8-)

You're absolutely right though.  Most small business owners and entrepeneurs don't think about this issue as seriously as they should.  Many feel that they are outside the bounds of lawsuits and things like that.  That is, until something happens!  Then, of course, it is too late.

Renae,  thanks for the response.  So many business owners have so much to lose but just don't realize it until it's too late. My hope is that they see the light before it's too late.

Brian, I couldn't agree with you more.  Having the appropriate insurances is vital. A family or business legal plan fills in the gaps where insurance plans fail to offer legal representation such as with vehicular homicide.
