Are You Represented?

Do We Need Representation As It Is?

How many of you knew there are 27 Amendments to the Constitution?. There have been reasons for these changes the last pertained to compensation of those in the both houses. It was ratified in 1992, yet proposed a few hundred years prior. How many of you know your representatives views, and write to that person to express your opinions? I'll bet the big business lobbyists have been to their offices, as any special interest group has also done. We badly need to discover what makes our Nation change? It is much talked about, yet the actual process is left with very little input from the very people represented. You and I see opinion polls on our personal computers, does this start you to ponder about our legislators who voted differently? If we look back to the date when a House of Representatives was formed, no phones were in place, or computers, or even a TV. We communicated in Town meetings with our representative who had the duty to ride a horse to our Nations Capital to state the wishes of those in that district. That was the clear only way back then. True there were no lobbyists as we know them today. It was the loudest person in the room that was heard and remembered at those town gatherings. I have yet questioned the ethics behind a lack of technology being used to ask my neighbors for our opinions on upcoming issues. Just about anyone with a phone can vote for their choice on American Idol. Why can't more important issues be communicated by the people, for the people? So I ask, the lead in question can technology today replace a House of Representatives?
