Changes To ActiveRain. Who Knew? Not Me

Yesterday I logged in to ActiveRain. I visited one of my favorite bloggers,

Lenn Harley. That was when I "discovered" that AR had made some changes. Lenn re-posted a blog by Andrea Swiedler entitled "I managed to keep my secret under wraps..." She was lamenting the loss of Spell Check on the

blogging tool. While on Lenn's post I also realized that we had lost our points for logging

on.

A Really Big Deal

Now, this is really a big deal. I have grown accustomed to getting those

points. In fact, they have me hooked. I must log on EVERY DAY so as not to

lose position to someone else who does log on every day. I remember when we didn't get points for logging on. Some people only

showed up once in a blue moon. I think the idea to give points for showing

up was a good one. After all, a great part of success is merely showing up. So now what? Is ActiveRain going to

continue to make these stealth changes or are they going to let us know. I checked out the official AR blog and

Kerrie's blog, and Bob Stewart's blog. I couldn't find anything about these

changes. Maybe they don't know either. What do you think? And while we are on the subject of unwelcome changes,

what about the new

profiles? I don't particularly like them. I don't find them easy to navigate. How

do I find blog posts by the person from their profile. It used to be easy. If somebody "visits" my profile, I want them

to be able to read my posts. I

don't want to discourage them. Oh well. Change happens. I'm old enough to know that you can't stop

progress. But I ask you, is all change necessarily "progress?"

Just Ask

I have a suggestion for whoever is in charge of making changes to this platform, ask us first. I realize that it is your business, but you wouldn't have any business withoout us. We should count.

Bill as a newbie, I have been looking for the spell check on the blog.  So you answered what I was looking for... there is no spell check.  That is hard to believe.  I know I can always do it in Word first so I guess that's the way to do it.  I agree, the few days I have been here I logged on every day and the points were part of that.

Hi Robert, Welcome to AR. You'll like it.

I suggest that you do your posts always on your word processor before posting to your blog. The first time you lose the whole thing, you'll be glad it is on your computer elsewhere.

Bill.  If no one is getting logging in pts. then it isn't going to make any difference.  Mine are there so I can't complain.

I don't know what else is affected.  I do know that simply posting has become much more difficult.

Nothing to do but wait and watch.

Hi Lenn, I was absent from AR for a few years. During that time they started giving points for logging in. Many people passed me up simply by logging in. Now I would like to regain my position, but this change makes it more difficult.

Bill A, I would never have guessed. Also, I'm not sure you use the spell check even when you can.

But that's OK. I still want to read what you have to say.
