If you're experiencing issues with iOS 7, you're stuck with it. Once you downloaded iOS 7, switching back to iOS 6 was lost as a possibility a few days after 7's launch when Apple stopped digitally signing older versions. However, you can still improve your experience with iOS 7, even if you are running it on an iPhone 4. Here are some tips on how to improve the speed of your device running Apple's new operating system.
1.) Stop iOS 7 from checking for new data via third-party apps Open Settings > General > Background App Refresh. Then flip the switch at the top of the category.
2.) Free storage space Go to Settings > General > App Usage Get rid of the apps that take up the most space that you don't need. Remember, you can use iCloud to help save space on your iPhone.
3.) Reinstall your iPhone If this isn't enough, your best bet may be to completely reinstall your iPhone. To do this, connect your iPhone to a computer running iTunes, do an encrypted backup, and restore your iPhone to factory settings. Once that finishes, you can restore all of your apps and data from the backup. If that proves futile, according to Adam Engst, editor of the long-running Mac newsletter TidBITS, your last option is to reinstall your iPhone without bringing back any of your old apps or data.
iOS 7 performance on the iPhone 4
The day has come for iOS 7, but for users who are sticking to their iPhone 4 instead of the bright new iPhone 5C or flagship 5S, what can you expect from your updated smartphone? The iPhone 4 is the oldest iPhone that is able to download iOS 7, but will your 2010 smartphone get more with the times with its 2013 OS or simply look older than it is? The iPhone 4 has already been known to lag with certain apps and its likely that some users may get irritated by the lags created by iOS 7's animations, which could take longer on the iPhone 4.
Everything is slower in iOS 7, usually by a one to one-half a second or so but sometimes by more.
These tiny delays can add up-if you unlock your phone, check your mail or messages quickly, and then put your phone away in the course of 10 or 15 so seconds, that lag can become a significant percentage of the time you spend.
