Yes, we Californians may use that term, “short drive” a lot but ....

I have been to half the states in this great country we live in, I have been out of the U.S. numerous times and when it comes down to overall diversity of likes, I have to choose the state I now call home, California. To find or do something enjoyable to one’s self on any given weekend trip is truly a short drive away. Yes, we Californians may use that term, “short drive” a lot but it goes buy quickly with the anticipation of the destination is on your mind. Whether your choice is Ocean, Mountain, Desert, Lakes, Movie Stars, Nature, Wine… well you get the picture I’m sure. Just as the grandeur of the Grand Canyon, Niagara Falls or even Mount Rushmore, all of these cannot be fathomed in any one picture. Such is the entire state of California; just a visit is a definite bucket list addition for anyone to see!

I can put up any one of a thousand different photos I have but all can be found on the internet and probably better as I am not a photographer, so I chose this one. A weeknight barbecue that a group of (about 60) us have monthly, every first Thursday; with that said, January 3rd, temperature in the mid 70’s at about 4-ish is not a bad climate to live in!

P.J., I have learned what Californians consider a short drive is way different than what Oregonians consider a short drive. I also sell real estate in a town of 50,000 and we complain about going to the next town over, a mere 20 minute drive. Thanks for the post.

Short drive, I hear you!  I'm a roadtripping kind of gal and don't mind it.  A few hours, or should I say a short drive, in a different direction can lead me to the mountains or valleys or ocean in WA state.  Love it!

Kerrie,

More power to you.... sometimes in this business you just have to get away, and like you I love to drive. Let me add that I hate being stuck in a senseless traffic jam though! :-(
