Sunday, I attended an event at George's Majestic Lounge designed to provide awareness for bond vote that is designed to provide funding for new local projects in Fayetteville. The event was the idea of Jody Andrews. Jody organized an amazing evening of music. Several local bands including Isayah's Allstars, Leah and the Mojo Doctors, Funk Factory with Anthony Ball and Ocie Fisher, Earl and Them, and Calle Soul performed.

Today, Fayetteville residents have the opportunity to vote on whether to refinance bonds that were initially used to build Town Center, They can select to continuing the funds to support new local projects. If approved, the bonds will be used to help fund a renovation of Walton Arts Center on Dickson Street and a new regional park. Supporting  the bond will not raise taxes. It is the goal of this funding to “help to provide new opportunities for our children and bring more culture and people to Fayetteville. "

"In addition to upgrading the 22 year old facility, Walton Arts Center will be expanding the main lobby and Starr Theater as well as adding backstage space. The new lobby will connect the building to Dickson Street, allow for better audience amenities and create a destination special event space in downtown Fayetteville. The Starr Theater and backstage expansion will turn Walton Arts Center into a functional two-theater complex, drawing more diverse local and national arts, entertainment and education."

Paula, I would imagine that if the bonds were purchased many years ago the refinancing of the bonds will actually SAVE the taxpayers of Fayetteville money!!!   Our church refinanced their debt and saved lots of money per month with a lower monthly payment.
