VILLAGE OF SCHOWE
I recently discovered collected information about the Donauschwaben villages of Neuschowe and Altschowe in the former Batschka, now Germany.
On Friday, May 26, 1786, the first "Ansiedler", initial settlers, were shown their lots to build their homes in what was to become the village of Schowe.
Although I had Googled my full name, I guess I had never Googled ...just Schowe.
How fun to find out that there is a Village of Schowe! Even my husband had not ever heard of it!
It looks absolutely charming! Only difference is that they pronounce it "SHOW" and we pronounce it "SHOWEE"!
Go ahead...Google your last name- you never know what you might find!
