Information for Sellers - Part 5 - Closets, storage, garage, screened porch

Closets and storage areas

• If your closets are packed with items you need to make room to create a sense of space,  Place items in storage or pack before your move.
• All ladder systems should be working properly to the attic and the attic light should be working.
• Your closets should look like there is still room to accommodate more articles.  Empty your closets as much as possible.

 

Garage

• Garage space is important when selling your house,  Clean the floor and paint if at all possible.  Clean all stains from the floor.
• It is not a good idea to overflow your garage with extra boxes before your move. Instead think about renting a storage unit.
• Clean and vacuum all windows and get rid of cobwebs in the corners.
• The garage needs to smell good also, place soap or deodorant in the garage to smell fresh. Your garage should look good, functional and well organized.

Screened Porch

• Your screen porch should be clean and swept.
• Your screen door should work properly.
• The screen should be free of holes and should be repaired if needed.
• he patio furniture should be clean and free of mold and mildew.
• The ceiling fan if present should be clean and rust free.  Consider  changing it if needed.
• Cobwebs should be vacuumed or cleaned.

 

Deck

• Clean or pressure wash your decks and nail down any loose boards.
• Think about staining your deck with a fresh coat of sealer or stain.
• The deck should be solid and any loose seats or railing needs to be fixed. all steps should be safe and sturdy.
