I have really been enjoying doing this series of posts. I have realized just how many great restaurants here in South Davis County we have to enjoy! I really haven't even scratched the surface, sure we have the well known chains like Applebee's, Chili's, Texas Roadhouse, well you get the picture, I don't wan't to write about them, anyone looking to move to South Davis County already is familiar with these. I wanted to highlight the great local restaurants, some are chains here in Utah or the region, others are mom and pop restaurants, it is these that I wish to write about.
Kitty Pappas Steak House is one of these great family owned restaurants, it has been there in the same location ever since I can remember. I remember walking past it when I walked home from Junior High School. I won't say how long ago that was, let's just say there have been several Presidents occupy the White House since then. The restaurant isn't much to look at, but the food. All I can say say is WOW! It is really good! Kitty still does the cooking, and if you're lucky, her son George will be there. He is very good working the customers!
We went for lunch several days ago, it was great! I had the chicken fried steak, it comes dry with no gravy. To be honest, you don't miss it. It was wonderful, fork tender and delicious. It is a lot like stepping back in time to what restaurants used to be. The staff is friendly and the food, as I mentioned, is delicious! It is located on Highway 89, just North of Toyota of Bountiful. You really should go, it is closed Sunday's and Monday's other than that, it is open for lunch and dinner.
