2013 THEME SONG CHALLENGE FOR OUR FIRE & WATER CLEAN UP & RESTORATION BIZ NEAR FLEETWOOD NY 10552
Our 2013 Theme Song should really be "Stormy Weather" because we were still cleaning up and rebuilding for some of our stressed out Superstorm Sandy clients. But, with the new year came taxes, more royalties for our independently owned, local family biz (vs. the "f" word -- Franchise). We were on our own and four years old in pricey Westchester County, NY, and in debt in a bad recession...ahhh!
The theme from the movie & play "How to make it in business..." is actually "I believe in you" and I've put the vid / lyrics below for all. It's a testament to Forrest and I living that we are living and working together, getting through family illnesses, deaths and my parents moving in with us when they fell on hard times, during the 2009 crash. All told, our biz IS OUR LIFE now, but we've managed to get along -- usually -- and stay together or at least try to see each other at the office and at home. That's while we're conscious of course.
So, on this snowy Tuesday...thought I'd share a song most of us may have seen in the movie with Michael J. Fox, or on the stage here in NY or beyond. Whether or not we believed we could start over in our 40's in Forrest's home state and 4 states away from my family, I'm not sure. It was terrifying and many times we thought we would not make payroll for our hardworking guys / gal in fire and water cleanup, or during hurricanes.
We weathered Hurricanes Irene, Lee and then Sandy and took care of lots of people -- as one of few restoration co's that helped FEMA / NFIP insurance storm victims in the region. When others insisted on "cash only," we did the right thing. So, for Karma alone and because -- as different as we are as people -- i believe in Forrest who runs our Servpro and think he's the best. My theme, syrupy as it sounds, is about my believing in my guy getting us through it and trying to support him and market our biz. see the link below or copy and paste: Lyrics from Nick Jonas as Finch are below, too
Now there you are.
Yes, there's that face.
That face that somehow I trust.
It may embarrass you to hear me say it.
But say it I must, say it I must
You have the cool clear
Eyes of a seeker of wisdom and truth
Yet, there's that up-turned chin
And the grin of impetuous youth
Oh, I believe in you, I believe in you
I hear the sound of good
Solid judgment whenever you talk
Yet there's the bold, brave spring
Of the tiger that quickens your walk.
Oh, I believe in you, I believe in you
And when my faith in my fellow man
Oh but falls apart
I've but to feel your hand grasping mine
And I take heart, I take heart
To see the cool clear
Eyes of a seeker of wisdom and truth
Yet with the slam, bang, tang
Reminiscent of gin and vermouth.
Oh, I believe in you
Oh, I believe in you
