"Keeping a Journal" every year ... from Ocean City, New Jersey

For about the last 8-9 years, I have maintained "a journal," a nice leather-bound one that my wife buys for me as a present each year.  I enter my thoughts on a somewhat regular basis (not daily), the books I'm reading, some good and bad situations that I encounter, and notes on things from books to newspaper topics, etc.  I also cut some things out and paste them to a page.

So you ask, what will you (or someone else) do with those journals ... I've asked my wife and son to read them and do with them what they want.  It is certainly a history of sorts about a somewhat interesting fellow.  By the way, I also enter a lot of thinking about my mystery novel that I've been writing and want to finish in 2014 (maybe by March or April) before serious outside tennis playing begins.

I certainly recommend "maintaining a journal" as an interesting way of sharing some of your ideas and thoughts for yourself now, and for others later.  As mentioned earlier, my wife buys a $10-14 book (except for several years when I needed a second book, one usually does the trick).

So as I get around to wishing any and all readers of my somewhat regular blog here on Active Rain ... "BEACH NOTES" by name, I hope it has been a truly rewarding and meaningful and profitable year for you ... I hope the holidays bring you joy and hope and wishfulness ... and that the new year is a wonderful one for you and those so important to you.

As I wrap this up ... I just thought of another blog piece ... so one more for the pre-holiday rush.

Journaling can be quite cathartic.  Poetry can too, its not as restrictive as prose and can convey so much meaning in a few lines.
