Want to get "High in Texas"? I know how and where.

Did you know you can get legally "High in the state of Texas"?

This is a really well known area of the state that not enough travelers and people from the state of Texas take advantage of.

The Guadalupe Mountains in the State of Texas and New Mexico is a massive mountain range that is actually a part of the Rocky Mountain system that starts in Canada and extends into Texas.

If you want to get High in the state of Texas, then this is the place to come to to get that high in Texas.

The Guadalupe Peak in the Guadalupe mountains national park is the highest point in the state of Texas. I can actually see the Peak on a clear day from my front yard. Even though the peak is about 55 miles from my home.

Located on Highway 62-180 or better known as the El Paso highway.

Here is what it looks like when trying to get to the peaks base. This shot was 45 miles to the peak.

45 miles from the peak.

This shot was only Ten miles to get to the peak.

10 miles to get to the peak.

This peak is huge. Stated as the highest point in Texas, a hiker can hike all the way up to the top of the peak.

Here we are with a view really close at the base of the peak.

This peak stands at 3,093 feet tall.  Short by many mountain standards but this is still the highest point in Texas.

Base of Guadalupe peak.

So if you are feeling really antsy and want a good hike, all 8.5 miles to the top and another 8.5 miles back down you can hike to the top. But beware it will take you all day and you would need to camp or make one fast retreat.

If you do hike to the top of the peak, then you will be the highest you can get in the state of Texas.

If you have not seen this area of Texas and New Mexico for yourself. then yo are simply missing out on what Texas and New Mexico has to offer.

While in the area be sure to check out the Carlsbad Caverns national park as well. Well worth the trip.

Have a great day every one.

Clint, 8.5 miles up that incline would really test me. Not sure if I nade it up I would have the strength to make it back down! Enjoy your day!

This is one thing Texas cannot brag about being the biggest or the most. Texas is really low lying.

Clint, That title will gets lots of eyes. I never think about Texas having many mountains for hiking but I forget it is so big, it has a little of everything.

Great photos Clint.  Of course that's just a hill by California standards, but still cool.

Hi Jim,

If it's all you have then you have to tout your highest peak. Small by other ranges, But still the highest in Texas.

Have a great day in California.

There are a lot of mountains in Texas, just not the towering mountains like in California and Colorado.

Have a nice day in Placerville.
