February is Heart Health Month. If you're like thousands of other Ventura County residents, you probably decided to make 2014 the year that you focus on your health. The Collection at Riverpark wants to help you stay on track to a healthier new you in the new year with their Ventura Healthy Heart Fair 2014.

The goal of the Ventura Healthy Heart Fair 2014 is to teach the public about leading a heart healthy lifestyle. According to the CDC, approximately 600,000 Americans die from heart disease every year. That accounts for 25% of the total amount of deaths in the US annually. And heart disease doesn't discriminate based on age, race or gender either. This can be treated and even possibly prevented by educating yourself on what to look for and healthy changes you can make in your life.

At the Ventura Healthy Heart Fair 2014, guests can participate in free health screenings from mobile units provided by Dignity Health. Representatives from St. John's Hospitals will be on hand to help Ventura residents with enrollment in their Covered California plans as well as answer any questions they may have. AMR Gold Coast will be offering bystander CPR in an effort to make sure you have the tools needed in case of an emergency situation. Don't miss renowned chef Brother Echo as he teaches his healthy eating class focused on RA (Rheumatoid Arthritis) sufferers. Whole Foods Market will round things out with their tips on how to shop, cook and eat healthy.
