When I was a kid we celebrated George Washington's Birthday and Abraham Lincoln's birthday. These must have been the only two presidents who had birthdays! It was sort of great because we would have 2 days off and Valentine's day in the short month of February! On leap years we would always joke about people born on February 29.
Somewhere in my young adulthood they squashed the two birthdays together and called it President's day. They added Martin Luther King day (or in Idaho Human Rights Day) in January so it was fair.
My kid loved it because he often had his birthday off from school.
But seriously to be a President of these United States is an awesome task and responsibility.
Be you Democrat or Republican the man or (hopefully someday woman) who sits in the Oval office deserves our respect. Have you ever noticed how much a President ages while in office. I think something happens that causes a deep respect among those who have been elected. Not many people have the leadership of this great country resting on their shoulders.
So on this day stop and give a moment of respect for the great people who have guided our country.
Then you can play or hit the sales!
