... a day of Remembering and Honoring
Today is the day we pay homage to our fallen heroes; men and women of the armed services who have lost their lives in battle. We visit the cemeteries, placing flowers and flags upon their graves showing are continued grief and pain of loss, in addition to letting them know they have not been forgotten.
We owe a lot to these brave men and women who have fought over the centuries to ensure and secure our free way of life, maintained with integrity and principle. Let us live our lives as good honorable Americans in shining example of that which they fought so valiantly for; HONOR – display at all times respect to our family and fellow man, LIBERTY – showing our appreciation for our freedom by allowing the same for our fellow man, PURSUIT of HAPPINESS – allowing for all others to pursue their dreams, not withholding. And above all, we need to show our appreciation for what they have done for us by always paying reverence to them all!
Let our Eagle fly high, and our Stars and Stripes wave freely and proud. Let us show the rest of the world that the United States of American is a country to emulate. She is proud of her servicemen and women; She is a country of honor and integrity; She is the land of the FREE and the home of the BRAVE!
Although Memorial Day is now scheduled to create a three-day weekend – it was originally declared to be May 30th of every year, but in more recent years it was changed to the last Monday in May to afford everyone a three-day weekend – where everyone celebrates with backyard parties of BBQ, potluck dishes, swimming, backyard-sports and some even take in major sports events, let us all enjoy these festivities and the beginning of summer events. But at the same time, let us not lose sight of what MEMORIAL DAY is all about and take some moments of silence to honor and thank all those that paid the ultimate price for US!
