Maybe You Should Do Some More Research......

This morning I was taking a break from other work stuff cleaning up the dishes and what not in the kitchen.  My blue tooth chirps in my ear, saying that I have an incoming call.  I answer it, I mean it is during business hours afterall.  

I hear, Hi Tony, I am blank from company Z, I noticed that you have several listings in the Cedar City area.  Would you like to add more marketing for those listings?  I smiled, all the while thinking, you should have done some more research, we haven't had a listing in Cedar City in about 18 months.  

That was when we relocated to the Bountiful area, north of Salt Lake City. Now I realize, they are probably going off of the data they had from when we had subscribed to their service a few years ago.  I still believe that they should have done a little better job researching us.  

They do have access to the MLS, they should have at least checked to see if in fact, we had any listings in the Cedar City area.  I know that I would do at least that much research before I called a homeowner to see about listing his house.  

I know that I am not sitting in a telemarketing center, but I do know that I need the best, most up to date information I can get to help any potential client. I would like to think that others would do the same, especially with the information so easily accessible, just me two cents this morning!

You hit the nail on the head, Darcy.  The telemarketers really don't know anything about us.  We are just numbers to dial to get a sale.  Just me two cents!  Have a great week even without the listing in Cedar City!

Tony, at the risk of sounding like I'm defending telemarketers (yuck), so often the big dogs online disseminate information that's outdated. I wonder... even if they had done their homework, would they be discovering the most recent information? Thanks for sharing your two cents!

Hi Tony - these guys are the ones who buyers are turning to for data. I actually had one of my recent buyers ask me if I the ability to access the local listings as well as Zillow. You got to be kidding me! Lol.

Tony, the telemarketers are just working off the volume. They don't have time to do the research, it's always the next call! We don't like it but there it is.

I have to agree with you Tony. If you are going to try to sell me something do a bit of research. Unfortunately they are just making as many calls as they can and hoping that someone will eventually take the bait. Volume over quality.

Telemarketers and robocallers are quickly becoming the bane of mankind.  If only the FCC would do what it is supposed to do when it comes to enforcing the "Do not call lists."

Everybody receives too many junk calls. We have reached the point where we let the calls go into voice mail if there is no name in the caller ID and it is not a local area code.

It is a bother though when those telemarketers call....a part of life these days for sure!
