OK - I have always been a self-proclaimed lover of winter. I relish the change of seasons, the snow, the illusion of peace and cleanliness that a new snow brings.
BUT - I am ready to throw in the towel - or shovel, if you prefer. To concede defeat to Mother Nature. I am publicly announcing that I have lost the game of the winter season. I am no longer the "great champion of winter" that I have been for the last 50+ years.
So, in the interest of full disclosure, I am hereby passing my torch of admiration of the seasons to none other than ........................ Mother Nature. She is certainly the most deserving competitor for my title. I am defeated, ashamed that I couldn't go the distance this year, and apologetic to all of you that have endured my chronic case of terminal happiness about snow.
While we are a week into the Spring season, it certainly does not feel like Spring - nor does it look like Spring. Just take a peek at last night's blessings.
I want my flowers to bloom, my flowering pear tree to be awash in white flowers, the lilac to fill with those sweet lavender clusters and the grass to go back to a lush green and the Gingko tree to fill with those delightful bright yellow leaves that tell me that spring is here - that all is right with the world.
I promise - no more photos of winter and snow until the next official opening of winter. Cross my heart!
