Bluegrass Time at the Ryman
Every summer the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville offers a series of excellent concerts featuring the roots of country music, Bluegrass Music. For those that love the sounds of traditional bluegrass music these are not to be missed. Bluegrass at the Ryman Summer Concert Series is a favorite of mine and each year my husband and I try to attend. This year we will be privileged to see the Steep Canyon Rangers. These skilled musicians toured with Steve Martin the comedian and actor who is also a talented bango player.
This popular Bluegrass Series has brought hundreds of thousands of music patrons over the last few decades to the Ryman to hear top-notch bluegrass music.
The Ryman, also known as the Mother Church of Country Music and housed the Grand Ole Opry for over forty years. This historic building serves as a museum of sorts to the birthplace of bluegrass and many successful country music stars made their debuts here. It is still considered a great honor to play on the stage of the Ryman where the acoustics and excellent sound quality resound throughout the auditorium.
Favorites every year are Vince Gill, Ricky Skaggs and Dailey and Vincent. The Ryman is a sellout nearly every time packed with enthusiastic fans that sometimes tap their feet, clap their hands and sing along.
The final concert in almost here but there is still time to get your tickets. Ricky Skaggs and Kentucky Thunder play for nearly two hours and never disappoint. Concerts are on Thursday nights starting at 7:30pm. It's Bluegrass Time at the Ryman.
Go a little early and hear free music played at 6:00 PM on the plaza. Pickin’ on the Plaza is a venue in a relaxed atmosphere nestled under the trees featuring talented groups and individuals in the country music bluegrass genre. And be sure to check out the Gift Shop and the various displays sprinkled throughout the auditorium depicting the steps the Mother Church has taken through history. You are sure to learn things about music and stars that you did not know before.
