Taking a nap under a tree. Old Searcy AR historic photo made on W Arch St.?

We do get tired today, don't we?

We usually head to the air-conditioned living area of our nice homes and curl up on a couch and take a quick nap.

Imagine a few years back.  Here is an example of how we might have rested.  This picture was loaned to me by Anita Hart Fuller, a lady who grew up in Searcy and who has loaned us many pictures for this blog.  She will have to tell us who this is.

The picture is so clear and has so many interesting things in it from his socked feet to his hat on the chair with one curved arm rest.  The other curved arm rest seems to be on the swing.  Note the car in the background with one door open.

Tell us more, Anita........

Barbara: I wish I could tell you more about this picture. I don't even know who the man is, or where he is. I just found this pic. among mothers' pictures....I'd like to think that he is mothers' older brother, Louis Harrison, and that the pic. was taken in his yard in Lexa, Ark. Louis worked for the Missouri Pacific railroad all his life.
Sorry.

Anita, for some reason I thought it was in the yard of your Arch Street house.  But where ever it was it is a great historic photograph and has a lot of interesting things in it.

No, not the Arch St. house as far as I know. I love all the interesting things, too. Esp. that the car door is left open.

It had to be hot in those cars during the summer, so taking a break in the shade would make a lot of sense.

Sharon and Bruce, it makes me think he drove up in that car, almost hit the tree because he was so tired, bailed out of the car and threw himself down for a nap!

Let's have a better look at his face. I like the straw hat on the chair also.

I, also, noticed the hat. It is called a 'sailor straw had" and was very popular in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

Don, the face didn't come through too clearly on my picture.

Harold Gene, you need to write a book about Searcy in the old days because you remember so much.  I never heard of a sailor straw hat.  I did have a relative contact me and say the picture reminded her of my dad, her grandpa, taking a nap on the ground after lunch.
