Afternoon July heat, white bleached sand, azure water of the ocean, the sound of the surf… In moments like these I want to relax, to be a retiree, like so many people around us.
An hour later, there is no bright sunshine anymore. There is haze. The clouds west of the Intracoastal are turning grey. They accumulate moisture.
I am on the 10th floor, and I see both the Intracoastal and the ocean, it is simply a matter of turning my head. The gentle breeze turns into gusty wind. I hear a sound of something hitting the railings, and see a table from someone’s balcony flying towards the ocean.
Good there are no people on the beach, and just an hour before there were plenty. We bring in the chairs, as they might fly out as well. The black huge cloud hovers over the ocean, and the azure waters are gone, it is dark and intimidating.
The rain is not here yet, but the lightning is already splitting the skies followed by a roaring thunder…
And then the skies open up. Our daily Florida rain, that keeps it all green and clean…
The sunset comes and colors the skies into something very weird. There is so much water in the air, that the sky is not blue, it is yellow in the rays of the setting sun. Have you seen a yellow sky?
And then it gets a little darker and the colors solidify into the reds, plenty of reds on the dark sky over the dark city.
One day by the ocean, and so many changes in the weather.
