The Colorado Open at Green Valley Ranch As an avid golfer I really enjoy when the serious talent comes to town. It was very disappointing a few years ago when they pulled the plug on The International Golf Tournament in Castle Pines, not only was it one of the best venues in golf, we got to see the top players in the world participate. I would have loved to have seen some of the new young talent hit that ball over 400 yards at altitude.
It was a close-up and personal view of the biggest names in golf, Jack Nicklaus, Greg Norman, Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson to name a few, but alas it is no longer an option, however, there is still plenty of very talented golfers in the field at the Colorado Open and I am extremely proud to say that two of those golfers are my nephews, Aaron and Brent Marshall. I only wish I had planned my week better, I would have loved to have been a caddy for either one of them.
Knowing the effort that it takes to get to this level is amazing, hours and hours of hard work each and every day, tweaking this and fine tuning that and if they let off for even an instant it can be the difference between a payday and not making the cut. This can be said for pretty much anything we do, the better we get at something, the more we need to sharpen and fine tune our skills, the early growth can be monumental, going from a beginner to a 20 handicap to a 15 can happen over a few weeks, however going from a 3- a 2 handicap can take an entire summer, but consistency, persistence and training is what makes the difference with being the best or just being another "player" that didn't make it.
If you get a chance this week to stop by and catch some of the action, you will not be disappointed!
