Nerdin Gardens July 2014 ~ Let the harvest begin!
Getting a late start on planting due to my husband's health problems, we are beginning to see the results of all the cultivating, tilling and careful planting that went into it at the start of the grow season. So far we have picked zucchini, crook neck squash and tomatoes from the garden.
The giant sunflowers once again stand taller than anything else but also add a bit of sunshine to the garden, especially on overcast days. They are also used as natural trellis's for the green beans and snow peas.
The basil, oregano, thyme, onion chives, garlic, sage, jalapeno peppers, strawberries, asparagus have also been a delicious addition to recent meals. We are anticipating quite a few artichokes this year due to new plantings.
Green beans, snow peas, red potatoes, eggplant, bell peppers are also eagerly awaited. The Marigolds act as a natural deterrent against bugs plus are a beautiful splash of color here and there throughout the entire garden.
The grapes and muscadines are almost ready and it is quite a trick to keep the birds from enjoying them before we do. We are indeed thankful every day as we watch our garden grow. The best to you all from Nerdin Gardens and southern Utah!
