Come join; be a part of one of the most worthwhile and much needed crusades:

Making Strides Against Breast Cancer 5K Walk

A 5K walk to benefit this worthy cause will be held this coming Saturday, August 9^th. The walk will begin at the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza (map) beginning at 8:00am. There is no competition involved in the walk itself – you can stroll, jog, run; whatever is your speed. Its main purpose is to support the efforts of the American Cancer Society in not only finding a cure for breast cancer, but to attempt in preventing or at least detecting it in its early stage.

Thousand Oaks’ 5K walk is one of approximately 300 walks that will take place nationwide in 2014. Funds raised in these walks will also provide patients with various support programs – “Look Good Feel Better,” “Road to Recovery,” along with various 24-hour support programs and cancer prevention studies.

I said this was a non-competitive event; however, you can make it an effort in competition. Gather friends and family together and encourage each of them to do the same, then divide into individual groups and challenge each other to see who can raise the most money. It becomes a great challenge amongst yourselves … as well as being lots of fun and rewarding; at the same time you will be raising funds that will go to the American Cancer Society.
