I'm grateful I was born in the USA. I've been to enough third world countries to understand all humans are not born into equal circumstance with equal opportunities. The world is not a perfect place, including the country of my birth, but I'm always grateful to return home.
I'm grateful for the life teachers I encountered. These are the people who taught, guided, mentored, and most important set an example I wanted to emulate. Some of them knew me, others I met in books, but all influenced me to varying degrees.
I'm grateful for the gifts of the Universe. The stars in the heavens--one of my most treasured memories of my African bush experience was standing in the dark (no city lights to dim the stars) and gazing at the stars in the Southern Hemisphere while our guide pointed out the various stars. The moon, whether in a super phase or a simple crescent sliver. The light of day and the dark of night both delight me. The sun, the sea, the trees--and all the wonders of this world. I rejoice that this little speck of cosmic dust gets to enjoy it all.
