As much as well as dislike road closures it is sometimes a very necessary thing to happen! With the creation of the SH 242 flyover, it will be necessary to shut down parts of this major Interstate in order to complete the flyover construction.
Please be aware of the closure and traffic diversions BEFORE you head out this weekend. I would completely avoid this area if at all possible. The access feeder roads will be jammed!
If you need to go North on I-45, I would head to Conroe via the back roads (i.e. Fish Creek, FM 1314.
If you need to head South on I-45, head south of FM 2978 or cut through via Gosling or Kuykendhal south and cut back over to I-45 via FM 2920 or even further south.
Give yourself plenty of time this weekend as the back roads will be jammed as well. The good news is that when the flyover is completed, the traffic at the SH 242 exchange will be so much better!
